HAWKERS

Michael and I went to this groovy little restaurant over the weekend called HAWKERS. Hawkers are street venders prominent in Asia, who depend on locally grown ingredients to create dishes sold from mobile carts and stands. What a cool concept for a restaurant right? Well...... I have found my new FAVORITE spot. This place gets and A++ from me!

The restaurant was PACKED when we arrived which is always a great sign. They don't take reservations, but if you call ahead of time and leave your name you get preferred seating. We did, and were seated within about 5 minutes. Score!

I ordered a Pinot Noir and Mike ordered an Amstel (one of about 50 beers on the menu) immediately!
The menu is Asian Fusion. Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese, Thai, and Vietnamese. Everything is served tapas style so you can share. Plate prices range from $3.-$6! Amazing right?

We asled our waiter what he recommended, and took his advice. We ordered the Pad Thai, Coconut curry shrimp, Roti Canai which are Malaysian flat breads served with spicy curry dipping sauce, and another noodle dish called Char Kway Ted (not pictured). Char Kway Ted is Malaysia's most popular street fare, and consists of wide rice noodles stir fried with shrimp, chicken breast, scallions and bean sprouts. Everything was delicious and it was more than enough food for the two of us. Best part? Our whole check came to $36. and remember that included 2 alcoholic beverages! Doesn't get better than that. If you are in the Orlando area, check it out!
