Worldwide Candle Lighting

One night last December when Michael and I were mourning our daughter Cali, our friends Karina and Steve came over to bring a little bit of "light" into our lives. With them they carried a beautiful lantern with a handwritten message explaining "Worldwide Candle Lighting."

On the 2nd Sunday of every December, starting at 7 pm there is a worldwide candle lighting to honor the memories of all the children who have gone too soon. I can't think of anything more special than that!

It is believed to be the largest mass candle lighting on the globe where a virtual 24 hour wave of light moves from time zone to time zone. Hundreds of formal candle lighting events are held, and thousands of informal candle lightings are conducted in homes as families gather in quiet remembrance of children  who have died, but will never be forgotten. You can read about it HERE.

So this past Sunday, December 8th, we lit our candle and we will continue to light it every year. Thank you to our dear friends Karina and Steve for letting us know about this beautiful tradition, and if you know of anyone who lost a child too soon, please pass this onto them.

Have a peaceful weekend everyone....
