Old Fashioned CLASS

Living in a society overflowing with breast implants, tatoos and "hoochie" dresses, I sometimes wonder...... whatever happened to good old fashioned class?
I know it's still out there, but I certainly would like to see more of it! I wish more beautiful young women realized that less is NOT more when it comes to attire, and chivalry is NOT dead! It's time for lovely ladies to respect themselves again.
I love looking through old photos of how it used to be. If only we could go back in time.

I love this "rare" photo of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly backstage at the Oscars. These two ladies embodied class!

Isn't it wonderful that people used to dress up to fly? Flying was considered a privilage. On my last flight I was next to a guy in a wife beater t-shirt! Seriously?
Manners NEVER go out of style. I could deal with a few more please and thank yous, couldn't you?

The Kennedys. Need I say more?

When I was growing up, we sat for dinner in the formal dining room so my parents could teach us manners. We had a table in the kitchen, but we never sat there. Looking back it was a great idea! It was so annoying when my father would tell me to get my elbows off the table or my mom would drill me about how to cut my steak, but I am thankful they did.
My mom also taught us how to properly set a table at an early age. Check out the photo above as a reminder.

There is one lovely girl from today who exudes class. Kate Middleton. She is my favorite! And guess what? She snagged a prince!

Who is your favorite glassy girl from today?

Lea, I totally agree with you that living in society today taints the "old" way of living. Elegance, class & manners is far gone unless you are in the upper cut of society where "proper" is a must in most cases. Us "commoners" have been bled of it and now what is left is skeletons of sleeze, negativity & down right bad style! lol
Love your blog post by the way ;)

Amen to all that! I ask myself the same question all the time. I was raised to always speak correctly, eat all my food (whatever my parents made as opposed to what they knew I would eat) and I had to dress appropriately. So annoying then, but like you, I'm so thankful for it.

Kate Middleton definitely has it! Sometimes I wish we could go back in time and live during part of that era (with equitable women's rights of course)

Oh my friend, so many things I'm nodding to in this post. I love the classic beauty and manners. One of the things I love about flying is seeing those people who do make an effort to look good, even if it's just businessmen in nice suits. It creates an air of excitement. OH boy, couldn't younger people learn some manners today??! And I've always been thankful that my mum taught me table etiquette and took me to nice restaurants to see it all in action. It means I can go anywhere now and feel comfortable. Even though when I'm tired, my elbows do creep up onto the table, but at least I know that I'm doing it! As for Kate. She too is my classic inspiration. It seems we admire the same ladies. Jennifer Aniston (I love her jeans style and the fact she's never looked like a hopeless fashion victim). I love Kate for her proper, classic style, although I wear jeans more often than dresses. I also love the Princes wearing slacks with a button shirt tucked in and rolled up sleeves.
